Minister of Defence of Georgia finished his official and working visits in France and Germany. Mr. Irakli Alasania returned to Georgia in the early morning. He was met by journalists at the Tbilisi International Airport. Minister made comment on the fact of detention of the Ministry of Defence employees: "the most important thing in this affair is that all the questions must be answered and the investigation must be led in a transparent way. I am sure in complete innocence of my employees. It is natural that I was observing a procurement process in the MoD and I know that everything was done in full compliance with the law. Though, the certain questions arose and they need to be answered. The whole Ministry of Defence personnel stand ready to cooperate with an ongoing investigation, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Defense.
At the moment I want to study all the details of the case. It is important that our guys feel themselves protected and I will draw my attention to ensure that they will not feel themselves oppressed. Unfortunately the signs and preconditions of it have already appeared, as the investigation process is not open for the public.
It is very important that the case be lifted a classified status, as the security of the country has received a big damage by this fact. To consider it, now there is no sense to keep those facts secret that must have been kept confidential in the past. It is crucial that the investigation should be led in an open and transparent way to identify the truth. Discussions must be held at the highest political level. I plan to meet with government members, Prime Minister, President and relevant parliamentary committees. It is natural that when everything is over we will give their names to everything and those persons who misled the society will assume responsibility for what they have done.
The investigation process must not be hindered and the truth must be identified. The society must be sure that the case is not politically motivated. We will continue our conversation later on.
