The President of the United States of America called on international society to protect principles of freedom of speech and to stop chase of journalists for "inconvenient" truth they say, reports GHN.
Barack Obama said about last week first time on the meeting held in White House on the day of impunity for crimes against journalists.
"Brave journalists are working for us to have information every day and the price is risk of their life. This information would be unavailable for us without their devotion. They expose corruption, ask tough questions, or tell us about the people who went through the horrors of war," reads the statement of the President.
As the leader of American's said this service towards humanity took life of hundreds of journalists during last decade. Most of them faced chase, threats, imprisonment and torment. "In most cases the persons who commit these crimes are not punished," stated Barack Obama.
