The United States sees as illegitimate the so-called "elections" held on Sunday, November 2, in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.
This was stated by White House spokesman Mark Stroh.
He said that the holding of these "elections" contravened Ukraine's constitution and laws, as well as the Minsk protocol of September 5.
Stroh said that the United States would not recognize any "election" held in separatist-held areas and called on all members of the international community to do the same.
He said that the only legitimate local election in eastern Ukraine would be held on December 7.
As reported, on October 16, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed the law on a special local government order in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, according to which early elections in Donbas are set for December 7, 2014.
