School children sent letters to Georgian soldiers deployed in Afghanistan. The fourth and final event of the joint project "Letters to Soldiers" was held at the 47th Public School. Deputy Minister of Education and Science Lia Gigauri, Director of Crime Prevention Centre Joni Kvinikadze and servicemen of the Georgian Armed Forces attended the event. Soldiers of the 12th Battalion of the 1st Infantry Brigade answered the pupils' questions and took photos with them, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Defense.
1400 letters were collected from 26 Public Schools across the country and were sent to Afghanistan. The authors of the letters are school children of 4th and 5th grades. The most of the letters were collected from 47th Public School. Accordingly, the final event was held at this school. "Letter to the Soldiers" is a joint project of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education and Science, which is implemented by the students with the support of the Crime Prevention Centre since 2012. Under the project, children of the public schools from Tbilisi and Georgia write letters to Georgian soldiers deployed in Afghanistan. In response, Soldiers are replying school children. The goal of the project is to support Georgian military serving far away from homeland.
