State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alex Petriashvili conducted a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway Bard Ivar Svendsen (Baku residence), reports GHN based on the Ministry of European and Euro Atlantic Integration.
The sides deliberated on the Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia. A particular emphasis was laid upon the decisions made at the NATO summit in Wales underscoring the importance of their timely implementation. Alex Petriashvili called the Norwegian side to engage in the given process. The necessity of bolder steps to be taken on the path of Georgia's NATO integration was also highlighted at the meeting.
The sides discussed security challenges of the region. Alex Petriashvili talked about the threats coming from the Russian Federation, including Russian efforts to annex Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions of Georgia as well as the Russian support to the so called elections in Eastern Ukraine, which clarifies the tendency of aggressive policy of Moscow. The State Minister emphasized the importance of timely, coordinated and decisive steps of the international community in response to the above-mentioned.
During the meeting, the sides also talked about perspectives of deepening bilateral relations between Georgia and the Kingdom of Norway, particularly in tourism development and attracting Norwegian investments to Georgia.
The Norwegian side reiterated the support to sovereignty, territorial integrity as well as the European and Euro-Atlantic aspiration of Georgia.
