Zviad Sichinava, President and Founder of "Baia" Club of Zugdidi, was elected to the post of President of the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) this afternoon. Sichinava was the only candidate, who ran for the position.
The 31 delegates of the Extraordinary Election Congress of GFF elected Sichinava with 29 votes for and 2 - against. The voting procedure was held at the Technical Base "Basa." Sichinava submitted the application on September 23.
Sichinava expressed gratitude to the public for trust, and claimed that he would do his best to contribute to the development of Georgian football. Veteran football players and the gathered delegates pledged their support to the new GFF President.
Nodar Akhalkatsi, President of the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) resigned from his post on September 17. Akhalkatsi's named the latest failures of the Georgian National Football Team as a reason for his resignation. Akhalkatsi has served as GFF President since 2005.
