Georgian Prime Minister discusses the importance of general population census and encourages the population to cooperate with the national statistics service, reports GHN based on press service of the Prime Minister.
As the Prime Minister stated at the government meeting today, the census with its scope and contents is a unique information source and it gives an opportunity to learn the social, economic and demographic state of population.
According to the head of the government the census has not been conducted and the data has not been updated for 12 years in Georgia.
"As a result of census we will have the latest information about the number, age structure, employment, education, health, living sources and housing of the population of our country. Also, what is very important for us the number of voter permanently residing in the country will be verified. I would like to address the population that the confidentiality of individual data obtained after the census will be protected", - the Prime Minister stated.
Preliminary census data will be published in April 2015, and final results- in April, 2016.
