On the 6th-7th of November 2014, the second round of the bilateral political consultations between the Georgian and Columbian Foreign Ministries was held in Bogota. The Georgian delegation was headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr Davit Jalagania, while the Columbian delegation - by his counterpart, Mr Patti Londoño Jaramillo, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the frames of the visit, the meetings have been held at the Columbian Foreign Ministry; at the Chamber of Commerce; with the representatives of the Columbian private sector and the Director of the national Bank Gold Museum; it should be noted that for the first time a meeting was held at the National Congress.
At the meetings the delegations discussed current issues of bilateral relations, including exchange of the highest and high level visits; underlined the importance of mechanism of consultations between the two foreign ministries; focused on the current developments in the region, on the relations between the legislative bodies, on the expansion of bilateral economic and trade potential and on the mutual support in the frames of the international organizations. The Georgian delegation underlined the importance of the historic Silk Road route and the Georgian Prime Minister's initiative to hold a high level Silk Road Forum next year in Tbilisi. The Columbian delegations reaffirmed its Government's strong support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
The two delegations signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Georgian and Columbian Chambers of Commerce and Trade
The delegations agreed to hold the third round of political consultations in Tbilisi.
