The deadline for submissions of applications for the post of President of the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) expires at 6 PM today.
Only one candidate has been registered by the secretary of the federation for the time being. Zviad Sichinava, President and Founder of "Baia" Club of Zugdidi submitted the application on September 23.
One more candidate Nikoloz Lekishvili planed to submit his application earlier today. However, he changed his mind to run for GFF President.
Nodar Akhalkatsi, President of the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) resigned from his post on September 17. Akhalkatsi's named the latest failures of the Georgian National Football Team as a reason for his resignation. Akhalkatsi has served as GFF President since 2005.
The Extraordinary Election Congress of GFF is scheduled for October 1, 2009.
