The chairman of the committee of foreign affairs of the Parliament pays official visit in US. In the frame of the visit Tedo Japaridze read lecture in Virginia University, discussed global security issues and relations between Georgia and Russia. As GHN was informed from legislature Tedo Japaridze talked about internal and foreign challenges of the country. He stated that European and Euro Atlantic course of Georgia is firm and this is choice of Georgian people. He touched the priorities of foreign politics of Georgia, issues of regional security, relations of Georgia and Russia, events that take place in Ukraine, perspectives of giving Georgia MAP and issues of bilateral relations of US and Georgia.
The chairman of the committee of foreign affairs paid attention to the tough situation in occupied territories of Georgia and about necessity of recognition of occupation and ethnic cleaning by the international society. The special attention was paid to so called "agreement on alliance and integration" that creates serious threat to the stability of the region and questions the issue of restoring of territorial integrity of Georgia. Special attention was paid to the strengthening of political and diplomatic pressure on Russia and about active involvement of solving Russian-Georgian conflict in a peaceful and diplomatic way.
Tedo Japaridze underlined on lecture that integration of Georgia in European Union will be guarantee of stability in whole Caucasus region that should be acceptable for Russia. Stability and security, regional collaboration, sovereignty and independency are integral and are depended on each other. In this case the help of western countries will be necessary and the west shouldn't make only "rigid statements" and should try to find optimal decisions towards Georgia.
The subject of territorial integrity, relations between Georgia-Russia, global security, role of Georgia in region and its neighborhood policy were the themes of the discussion. International experts took part in the discussion.
Tedo Japaridze thanked Virginia University for invitation and for organization of lecture and expressed hope that interest on scientific and practical diplomacy level will increase that will support Georgia to succeed in tough processes in foreign politics that is connected to regulation of conflict on international level.
In the frame of the visit there are planned meetings of the chairman of the committee of foreign affairs with former state secretary of US Colin Powell, Madeleine Albright and with other high ranked officials.
The visit in US will last till November 15.
