The European Union thinks that sanctions against Russia are currently not an objective and it is necessary to focus on reforms in Ukraine, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said this before a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on Monday.
"Sanctions themselves are not a target, are not an objective. They can be an instrument if they come together with other measures. I think that it's time that the European Union and the ministers concentrate on the other issues that we have to build for having a complete strategy. And that means, on the one hand, asking Ukrainians to commit to reforms, and on the other hand, finding the ways to assist them in holding these reforms," Mogherini said.
She said that a successful Ukraine should be the best result for solving the crisis in the country.
