With the statement of special representative in Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai on the meeting with Premier Irakli Garibashvili NATO secretary general is expecting confirmation the course of Georgia has not changed, reports GHN.
"Today we are waiting for clear confirmation that aspiration of Georgia is integration in Euro Atlantic structures. We were assured in private conversations that the course is not and will not be changed. This is what NATO secretary general wants to know and I hope that we will receive confirmation from new Ministers of the Premier," stated Appathurai in the interview given to public broadcaster.
As he explained the processes developed last time in Georgia raised questions concerning Euro integration of the country.
"The last events and changes of the Ministers whose activity was connected to the Euro integration of the country raised questions in NATO member countries. We don't think that these questions are serious because we know very well that Euro Atlantic integration is choice of Georgia people," stated Appathurai.
Today November 17 in Brussels will be held first meeting of association council of Georgia-European Union which will be attended by the delegation under leadership of Prime Minister Irakli garibashvili. One of the first meetings of the Prime Minister of Georgia is planned in NATO headquarters. NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg will host Irakli Garibashvili. After this there is planned joint press conference.
