On the 19th of November 2014, the Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr Davit Dondua met the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Mr István Mikola, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two discussed the current issues of bilateral political and economic relations between Georgia and Hungary; and focused on the prospects of future co-operation. Mr Dondua particularly emphasized democratic reforms carried out in Georgia and the progress Georgia has achieved in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. In this context, the two underlined the importance of the NATO Wales Summit decisions and their implementation; focused on timely completion of negotiations on the visa regime liberalization with the European Union.
Mr Dondua conveyed his Hungarian colleague the Georgian Government's request for ratification of the Association Agreement by Hungary's Parliament as soon as possible.
The two put a particular emphasis on the current situation in Georgia's occupied territories and on Russia's offer to sign the so-called "treaty" with the Abkhazian occupation regime on alliance and integration. Mr Mikola reaffirmed his Government's support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
