As you know, this was a very urgent issue for the Government of Georgia, the Government has done its utmost to solve that problem in the country, there had been taken numerous steps in that point of view, including a strategy for human rights approved by the parliament and an action on the plan worked out by the Government. We are ready to share our experience with Ukraine as well ", - said the head of the government administration, Maia Tskitishvili.
As deputy head of the Government Administration Nino Kobakhidze remaked after the meeting with the delegation of Ukraine the meeting turned out to be very interesting indeed.
"They are majorly interested in working out the strategies to protect human rights across its implementation, and the role of government administration within this sector. As you know, the Prime Minister's Assistant Sophie Japaridze is engaged in the process. We also attempted to provide a detailed experience in this regard with our Ukrainian counterparts and we have also offered our involvement and support of all the current reforms, which we had undergone in the government administration sector. According to Nino Kobakhidze, the long-term cooperation was agreed between the sides at the aforementioned meeting.
Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights Valeria Lutkovska outlined that the president's decree was issued in Ukraine, which is designated to a national strategy for human rights and thereof the experience of Georgia, which adopted the strategy in March, was essential.
"Ukraine is now in the stage of human rights protection sector, which was suffered in Georgia about a year ago. The president decree issued in our country is designated to set up a working group for human rights protection in order to obtain a national strategy on the matter. In April 2014, a document of this type had already been approved in Georgia, certainly, we consider the fact that this strategy does not have to be a dead document, but should be performed by the government of Ukraine. In this regard, we had a very interesting exchange of information in the preparation of the aforementioned strategy, how is it and what are the mechanisms of civil society to influence policy-making and implementation ", - said the Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights.
